See the Bay the Way Sailors Do

Half of Boka only reveals itself from the water — island churches, sea caves, fortress islands, and coves with no road in. Here is everything you glide past, and the tours that take you there.

On the route

Landmarks Best Seen
From the Water

Boka is a chain of bays, and the most striking sights sit right on the shoreline — or on islands you can only reach by boat.

Our Lady of the Rocks
01

Our Lady of the Rocks

The man-made island church off Perast — most tours stop and let you step ashore.

Perast
02

Perast & St George

Baroque palaces from the water, and the cypress-covered island beside Gospa.

Kotor Bay
03

Kotor Bay

The narrowest, most dramatic stretch — sheer cliffs dropping straight into the sea.

The Blue Cave
04

The Blue Cave

A sea cave near the entrance where the water glows electric blue — a swim stop in summer.

Mamula island fortress
05

Mamula Island

A round fortress island standing alone at the mouth of the bay.

Submarine tunnels on Luštica
06

Submarine Tunnels

Cold-war tunnels cut into the Luštica cliffs — you can nose a small boat right inside.

Verige strait
07

Verige Strait

The bay's tightest pinch — once chained shut against invaders, now the best photo line.

Žanjic and Rose coves
08

Žanjic & Rose

Pebble coves and an old fishing village on Luštica, reachable only from the sea.

Sveti Marko island off Tivat
09

Sveti Marko Island

A green, uninhabited island off Tivat — a favourite spot to drop anchor and swim in calm, clear water.

Why the water wins

What a Boat Gives You
That a Car Can't

The Bay of Kotor was built around the sea, not the road. Half its best places turn their back on the coast road and open only to those who arrive by water — and it's a completely different bay from out there.

The Only Way In

Our Lady of the Rocks, the Blue Cave, Mamula and the Luštica coves have no road at all — a boat is the only key that fits.

The Full Panorama

Fortress walls, sheer mountains and Baroque towns line up in a single frame you simply can't see from the shore.

Swim Where You Like

Drop anchor over glass-clear water off an island or in a hidden cove — your own private swim, no crowded public beach.

No Traffic, No Parking

Glide past the summer coast-road jams and skip the hunt for a parking space in Kotor entirely.

This Is What
Arriving by Water Looks Like

The moment the boat rounds the point and Our Lady of the Rocks drifts into view, engine easing off — this is the reason people come to Boka. Below, the routes that get you here.

Boat taxi

Arrive by Sea,
Straight from the Airport

Land at Tivat and be on the water within minutes. A private boat taxi can collect you almost anywhere on the bay and drop you at your hotel's own steps — no coast-road traffic, no parking, and a first view of Boka that no transfer by car can match.

It works just as well for a dinner in Perast, a beach on Luštica, or a late run back to your apartment. Wherever there's a jetty, I can arrange a boat to it.

  • 01
    Airport pickups

Met at Tivat and taken by car the short hop to the pier, then straight across the water.

  • 02
    Hotel to hotel

Any jetty on the bay — Kotor, Perast, Herceg Novi, Portonovi, Luštica Bay and everything between.

  • 03
    Dinner & beach runs

Dropped off and collected later, so an evening in Perast or a day at Žanjic needs no driving at all.

  • 04
    Any hour

Early arrivals and late returns included — the bay is quiet and glassy at both ends of the day.

Lunch on the water

Tie Up Where the
Food Is Worth It

Many tours build in a lunch stop at a waterfront konoba or marina restaurant — fresh Adriatic fish, local wine, and a table right on the sea. A few of the bay's best:

Waterfront konoba terrace at sunset
Perast · Morinj

Waterfront Konobas

A stone terrace under the pines, a cannon on the quay, and the sun dropping behind the mountains as the fish comes off the grill.

Grilled fish and seafood platter
Straight from the sea

The Day's Catch

Whole grilled sea bass and bream, garlic shrimp, and Swiss chard with potato — the classic Boka fish platter, as fresh as it comes.

Waterfront restaurant tables at Rose
Luštica · Rose

Fishing-Village Tavernas

Candlelit tables at the water's edge in a tiny harbour reachable only by boat — as local, and as unhurried, as Boka gets.
